About Shauna

Bridging brand leadership with the work of aliveness

After decades helping brands build from clarity, I now bring that same approach to helping people come alive.

Why I Do This Work

For two decades, I’ve built global brands. I led brand strategy, developed multi-market campaigns, and guided leadership teams through repositioning and expansion — from helping Toyota rebuild trust after a crisis to navigating Uber’s evolution from #DeleteUber to the S&P 500. Over time, I learned something simple: strong brands aren’t built on image. They’re built on coherence.

But at some point, my life didn’t feel as clear as my work. My career was accelerating. My family was growing. Success was measurable and celebrated. Titles. Earnings. Stock price. I gave my energy to what was rewarded and neglected what wasn’t. On paper, I was succeeding. In real life, I no longer felt like myself.

Instead of accepting depletion as the cost of ambition, I paid attention. I saw how easy it is to drift from yourself in pursuit of success. That realization changed my work.

Today, I help organizations get clear on who they are and build from there — aligning leadership, culture, and brand so performance doesn’t come at the expense of people. I also work with individuals at turning points, helping them notice what feels alive and use it to make braver, more honest choices.

I live in the Bay Area with my husband and our two daughters. Being outdoors grounds me. Hiking. Biking. Snowboarding. Camping. Exploring together. Following my signals has reinforced my belief that well-being fuels excellence. When coherence returns, vitality follows.

The 5 Cs of Aliveness

The 5 Cs describe five ways of engaging life that reliably elicit the feeling of being alive. They aren’t ideals to be perfected or states to be maintained. They are ways of stepping in, paying attention, and letting what’s alive guide what comes next.

Centering

Return to now

Centering slows us down enough to feel what’s here. It pulls attention out of habit and into lived experience. Without it, life rushes past. With it, we’re available to what life offers us.

Connection

Life through relationship

Connection brings aliveness through contact with other people and with life itself. This includes awe: moments of being moved by nature, beauty, or something larger than ourselves.

Coherence

Living in truth

Coherence is the feeling of things lining up. When our values, choices, and actions align, energy returns. When they don’t, something feels off. Coherence brings steadiness, clarity, and a quiet sense of this is right.

Creativity

Letting energy move

Creativity is aliveness in motion through play, imagination, expression, and making. When we create, we participate in life rather than watching it. Something wakes up when energy is allowed to move outward.

Challenge

Meeting the edge

Challenge brings us into meaningful effort. It’s the stretch that asks something of us without overwhelming us. This is where aliveness sharpens - where we feel awake, engaged, and fully in it.

“Feeling alive isn’t the goal. It’s the feedback. It’s the unmistakable sense that something matters, that we’re awake and engaged rather than moving on autopilot.”

Where Experience Meets Aliveness

  • Brand Leadership

For decades, I’ve led brand strategy and guided leadership teams through moments of expansion, repositioning, and renewal. My work centers on clarity: helping organizations define who they are and then aligning leadership, culture, and brand around it.

  • Facilitation & Group Work

I design and facilitate conversations that move people from uncertainty to clarity. Whether working with individuals or leadership teams, I create space to tune into signals of aliveness — surfacing what matters and translating insight into action.

  • Applied Positive Psychology

My work is informed by the science of human flourishing, integrating research and tools from positive psychology into real-world practice. It grounds clarity and aliveness in evidence.
